Tuvimos un buen día en la convivencia! No olvide a traer los libros de biblioteca mañana, y también la tarea de spelling!
Tarea:
Mañana es la convivencia de niños. Deben traer una botella de agua, un gorro, y repelente. Deben llevar ropa cómoda que puede estar sucia, los tenis, y bloqueador.
We are back in full force with our learning! Please remind your child about using kind words with others, taking care of materials, and listening when others are speaking, whether it's their classmates or teachers. We have had a hard week in these areas.
Important Dates: Thursday, January 29 all day - Convivencia (Contact Ms. Yamile with questions.) Wear pants, hat, insect repellent, and bring a big water bottle. Monday, February 2 - Yearbook Pictures Thursday, February 5 - 100th Day of School! Monday, February 9 - MAP Reading Test Part A Tuesday, February 10 - MAP Reading Test Part B Monday, February 16 - MAP Math Test Part A Tuesday, February 17 - MAP Math Test Part B What are we learning? Math-We will continue collecting and organizing data into tally charts, pictographs, and bar graphs over the next few days (with up to 4 categories). We will have a graphing assessment either on Wednesday or Friday (Standard 1.MD4).We we also do a brief review of calendar skills. This includes recognizing what day is it, will be tomorrow, and was yesterday. It also includes: knowing how many Mondays there are in a month (or any day), finding a specific date and telling what day of the week it is, and recognizing the differences between day, week, month, and year. We will continue with math fact strategies. Some children will be on Doubles up to 20, some on -0/1/2, and some maybe still on +0/1/2. Ask your child what strategy they are on. Math fact quizzes will be every Friday, specific to your child's strategy. ABCya Graphing Game -- Go to For Kids > Math > Fuzz Bugs Graphing! Reading-All of the past week, we have been practicing telling a summary of a story. To help us, we use our fingers to tell SOMEBODY in the story, what they WANTED, BUT there was a problem, SO is the solution, and FINALLY is how the end of the story. After reading a book with your child, ask them to tell the somebody, wanted, but, so, finally. They should be able to do so. We will assess this on Friday. Writing-After learning the difference between FACT and OPINION this past week, we will work on giving reasons to support our opinions. When we begin writing opinion pieces, they must include their opinion, 3 reasons for that opinion, and a conclusion (restate the opinion). For example, if they say "Soccer is the best sport!" They must tell me three reasons, such as "I get to play on a team with my friends. It's good exercise. It's fun." Encourage your child to tell you WHY they like or don't like things in their lives, in both Spanish or English, so they learn to justify their opinions. Social Studies-We will continue with our Economy unit. We have learned about Wants and Needs in our lives, plus what are Goods and Services. Goods are things we can make or grow (ie: fruit, wheat, tables, clothing, computers, etc). Services are things people do for others (ie: cutting hair, making food, keeping us safe, cleaning at home, taking care of brothers and sisters, etc.). This week, we will move on to Producers and Consumers. A producer is someone who makes a good or provides a service (ie: kids helping clean at home, teachers, firefighters, etc). A consumer is someone who buys or uses a good/service (ie: when you buy food at a store or restaurant, kids learning from a teacher, going to the dentist). Also, we will read a few different books about natural resources (air, land, water, trees, etc) and how they are important.
Traer libros de biblioteca mañana!
Favor devolver los papeles de Vocales (un libro con flaps) y de Needs y Wants (cortar y pegar papel...no el libro). Olvidé a poner las calificaciones en mi libro de notas. Gracias a los padres que ya los devolvieron. Por accidente hoy, yo envié dos papeles que he calificado pero no los he puesto en mi libro de calificaciones.
